Music Education is much more than just teaching students how to play an instrument and read music. Music is much more than knowing which notes to play, how loud to play and how fast to play. To truly play music one has to learn how to put emotion and experience into their playing. My goals in music education is for every student to not only be able to understand music notation and theory, but also be able to express themselves musically and use good technique in the process. Also, I will strive to help every student to be able to understand what each composer wanted for each section of their work.
Since I was young music has played a huge role in my life. Though the music I listened to has changed and expanded throughout my life, music has always been a source of inspiration. Once I started learning about music through private lessons and my school’s band program, I knew that music would play a large role in what I did with my life. As I learned more about music and earned more responsibility in my school’s band I discovered that helping others understand music was my favorite part of band. So, once again music inspired me, and now my goal is to continue learning my entire life so I can help other as much as I possible can to fully experience the great gift of music.
